The filmmaker from Burela, Adrián Canoura (Official Section jury member), will exclusively share images from his first feature film, Fomos Ficando Sós. It is a project that starts from a private documentary archive –the videotapes recorded by his father– to try to delve deeper into the father-child relationships and illustrate a socio-labor and existential ecosystem in danger of extinction for which only the mythical path remains.
Adrián Canoura was born in Burela in 1991, Galicia. He studies Direction and Audiovisual Production at Fundación TIC, Lugo. Then he follows his studies with a specialization at Escuela de Ficción de Voz Audiovisual in A Coruña and he moves to Madrid to course the Master LAV: Laboratorio de Práctica y Creación Audiovisual Contemporánea in 2016. The Galician Audiovisual Academy highlights him as a new talent in 2018 and the prestigious Nicole Brenez names Caerán Lóstregos do Ceo, one of the pieces of the year. His films have been screened at festivals such as Curtas Vila do Conde, Fibda, Fracto Berlin, Nouveau Cinema, FICCI de Cartagena de Indias or Sao Paulo. His work covers hybrid projects between documentary and fiction, experimental approaches to video-creation, archive exploration or more contemporary creations. He currently focuses his work on live audiovisual creation for music bands such as Baiuca, Sen Senra and Guitarricadelafuente. Canoura travels with all of them to national stages and some venues around the world, such as Marrakech, Bogotá, Quito, Milan, Paris, Geneva, Budapest and Mexico City.
