WORKSHOP INFO<\/span><\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]There are films through which life is filtered. These are the ones that move me the most. Films full of cracks that allow us access not only to the story that is presented to us, but also to an existence, and that are usually the reflection of a certain attitude towards what surrounds us, an attitude moved by desire, awareness, listening and a continuous astonishment for what is close to us. The workshop appealed to and brought to the surface those own and revealing looks that the world needs so much, and it did so with special emphasis on the belief that the main function of cinema is to congregate, and on the notion that it is in the context of each person, which determines and limits, where the possibilities, strength and uniqueness of each of those looks lie. In this context, ten students from the Pontevedra campus developed individual short film projects that were shaped throughout the different stages that structured this workshop. In the first session, a context that favored the immersion and aesthetic-thematic inspiration of the students was formulated. The objective of this session was for each participant to discover models of cinematographic expression that would stimulate both the genesis of their proposal (the driving idea) and its subsequent formalization (the short film). In the second session, a first review of the films, which were in the middle of their creative process, was promoted in order to provide detailed advice on each project and thus promote its better development. In the third and last session, we continued working with each project, finalizing details, towards its final editing and subsequent public screening at the inaugural session of the 09 edition of Novos Cinemas.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″ el_class=”pl-20 pr-0″]
BIOGRAPHY<\/span><\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]Alvaro Gago<\/strong> (Vigo, 1986) studied Communication and Music in Galicia, Theater in Chicago and Filmmaking at the London Film School, where he graduated in 2013 with the short film Curric\u00e1n<\/em>, premiered at the Malaga Film Festival. In 2017, he directed Matria<\/em>, a short film nominated for the Goya Awards and winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. His next short film, 16 de decembro<\/em>, nominated for a Goya award and winner of the Mestre Mateo, premieres in the Pardi di Domani section of the Locarno Film Festival. His first feature film, Matria<\/em>, inspired by the short film of the same name, premiered in the Panorama section of the 73rd Berlinale, won the Silver Biznaga for Best Actress and the ASECAN Award for Best Debut Film at the Malaga Film Festival, and received two nominations for Best First-Time Director and Best Actress at the 38th Goya Awards. The film was released in theaters in Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Portugal. Currently, he is part of the teaching team of FilmLab Lac6, Conecta Lab and La Residencia Navarra, and is working on his second feature film, Porto Alegre<\/em>, with Ringo Media and S\u00e9tima. <\/p>\n
