Daniela Urzola (Cartagena de Indias, 1992) Film critic. Regular contributor to media outlets such as Caimán Cuadernos de Cine, Filmtopia and Revista Mutaciones. She works in programming (FILMADRID) and communications (FILMADRID and Seminci) for film festivals. At the same time, she teaches at institutions such as ECAM (Madrid School of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts) and the University of the Andes (Colombia) and collaborates in the AulaFilm film literacy programme organised by the Community of Madrid. She has participated as a speaker and/or jury member at festivals such as the Sitges Film Festival, the Singapore International Film Festival, Novos Cinemas, IBAFF, FICBUEU and the Mar del Plata Film Festival (youth jury).
She has also contributed to publications such as Clásicas, modernas y extrañas. Historias feministas del cine (Nosferatu Collection) and Espejo de pasiones. El cine alemán, los años 70 y el siglo XXI: Moderno/Contemporáneo (Caimán Ediciones and Seminci), employing an intersectional perspective in her research.

This workshop aims to explore the main narrative trends in emerging and contemporary auteur cinema in Spain. By analysing specific themes and case studies, it seeks to identify and delve deeper into some of the voices that are defining the present and future of the national film scene with renewed and diverse discourses which, from self-fiction to queer and gender perspectives, reflect a growing concern for the world and its current issues.
