CERES
NOVOS CINEMAS. PONTEVEDRA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL will be held from 08— I3 December 2026 in the city of Pontevedra (Galicia, Spain). With an emphasis on auteur cinema, NOVOS CINEMAS aims to discover emergent filmmakers and draw attention to them beyond national borders.
WHO CAN ENTER — FILM SUBMISSION AND DEADLINE
In tribute to agriculture and fertile crops, Ceres (competitive section) promotes works developed in film and audiovisual teaching and training centers in Spain and Portugal. Short films created by students will make up this section.
Each center will select a maximum of three works in order to participate in the selection phase. The festival will prioritize films whose exhibition includes its premiere in Spain or Galicia. Eligible entries include feature films completed, or whose first public exhibition takes place after 1 January 2026 that have not been commercially released in Spanish cinemas or broadcast on Spanish TV channels (private or public) before entering this competition*.
The admission period will be extended from June 15th to September 15th, 2026
THE PRIZE — THE JURY
Three professionals of recognized prestige will award the Ceres Award, with a financial award of 1,000 euros for the director of the winning film.
The award will help stimulate the development of that filmmaker’s future project.
All decisions reached by the judges will be final and may not be contested.
