A film is a complex product that requires a preparatory work implemented long before the film reaches the screen of a cinema. It all begins with an idea on someone’s mind, an intangible form that needs to be materialized before the production process. In order to do this, some filmmakers use the storyboard, a fundamental visual tool used in some other communication disciplines, which helps to plan the narration of a story. The storyboard lies in a series of drawings, similar to those of a comic book, which represent frame by frame the key scenes of a cinematographic story showing how it will or could visually develop. In this workshop, thought for children from 8 to 12, we will introduce the cinematographic language through the recognition of the different cinematographic shots –wide shot, medium shot, close-up, etc.– and camera angles, exploring how these elements contribute to show emotions and actions in a strictly visual way. Children will become familiar with the planning process of a fiction or animation film, developing their own storyboard to tell a unique and original story through this creative activity.

Taller Abierto is a collective formed by two architects that has been developing artistic and cultural projects since 2013. Among its activities are the organization of training courses for teachers, curating exhibitions, and educational workshops in museums and private institutions. Its work in the field of education also includes the production of teaching materials on different topics in physical and audiovisual support. For them, public space and the landscape can be a driving force for learning, that is why they also implement projects in which they are main characters.
