INTRO

Encontros is a space for exchange, dialogue and reflection on the phenomenon known as cinema. A forum where we meet to gain a global, pluralistic and inclusive perspective on filmmaking.

Following the pre-festival activities, ENCONTROS brings us six initiatives that aim to form a programme both diverse and organic. Firstly, there is a presentation of two projects that approach cinema from a collective and multidisciplinary perspective: colectivo Termita, a leading figure in new film criticism, programming and creation, and espírituescalera, a community dedicated to the conception, production and creation of projects. Then, we will continue with the presentation of two sector-specific round-table discussions: the first one will explore alternatives to standard models of programming, production, creation and distribution, accompanied by some very special colleagues —Rodrigo Areias, Brais Romero and Francisco Álvarez—; in the second discussion, representatives from three international festivals will share their views on international relations and sustainability —DOC[IN]. Festival Internacional de Documentário de Viana, Cámara Lúcida. Festival Internacional de Cine and Novos Cinemas. Festival Internacional de Cinema de Pontevedra—. Furthermore, we are renewing our collaboration with the Working Class Heroes programme (Porto/Post/Doc) by screening a film, and we will present a selection of short films by the Ecuadorian filmmaker and programmer Francisco Álvarez Ríos.
