In homage to agriculture and fertile harvests, Ceres is born, a competitive section aimed at promoting works developed in film and audiovisual education and training centres in Spain and Portugal.

Five short films, illustrating possible paths for contemporary audiovisual media, make up the Ceres section of the 10th edition of Novos Cinemas.

The personal approach to certain trends in contemporary auteur cinema, which outline the complex emotional journey of today’s youth, contrasts with a radical validation of sound as a structural element that questions and amplifies the spectator’s condition. The playful self-referential critique of film genres and gender issues resonates in a work that subtly combines personal memory, archive, sound and animation to reveal the mark of our childhood on our future. A fifth proposal conceives cinema as an aesthetic-political tool that reveals the multiple issues that determine the future of today’s world.
