The search for The Irupé Flower, a lost film by Guillermo Fernández-Zúñiga, Spanish pioneer in scientific filmmaking in the early 20th century, triggers a journey into family histories and national archives. As we witness the slow growth of the yrupẽ different layers of images and silences emerge.

Candela Sotos (1986, Madrid) develops her work between the archive, the moving image and botanical practices. She studied Audiovisual Communication (Madrid) and a Master in Visual Arts and Photography (Paris 8). She was also part of the Artists Programme at the Torcuato di Tella University (Buenos Aires). Her work incorporates diverse methodologies that link oral transmission, collaborative practice, searching for ways to produce images and narratives around memory. It take the form of installations, editions and films. She has shown her work in exhibitions and screenings at Círculo de Bellas Artes, Jardín Botánico Carlos Thays (Buenos Aires), Centro Cultural de la Memoria Haroldo Conti or Fundación Cerezales FCAYC among others. Her projects have been supported by the Ministry of Culture, or the National Arts Fund (Argentina). Candela Sotos is also member of lacalor, a garden and an independent art space dedicated to silkscreen printing.
